NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s eighth-ranked doubles team of senior Cameron Klinger and junior Billy Rowe has earned a spot in the 2019 NCAA Doubles Championship in Orlando, Florida, beginning on May 20.
The pair enters the championships boasting a 16-12 overall record and a 9-3 conference record, earning the duo the seventh-seed in the championship. With this seed, Klinger and Rowe automatically earn the title of 2019 All-Americans.
The duo recently upset Mississippi State’s third-ranked team of Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic in the quarterfinals of the 2019 SEC Championship, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point for the Commodores against the Bulldogs.
This year’s NCAA Doubles Championships will mark the second consecutive appearance for the tandem. Last year, the pair entered the championship as the No. 11 duo in the nation. After a tough fight, they fell in the round of 32 to UCLA’s No. 16 Austin Rapp and Keegan Smith, 6-3, 6-3.
Entering the 2019 season as No. 52 pair in the nation, Klinger and Rowe concluded the regular season as the No. 14 doubles pair in the nation.
After two consecutive victories at the SEC Championship, the duo advanced to No. 8 in the nation, cracking the top-10 for the first time this season.
Prior to the NCAA doubles championships, Klinger and Rowe will join their team to kick off the NCAA team championship this Friday in Columbus, Ohio, as they face Notre Dame at 10 a.m. CT.
