NASHVILLE — Vanderbilt punter Richard Kent has performed at an All-SEC level this season and on Monday was recognized for his efforts as SEC Co-Specialist of the Week for his performance versus Missouri.

The fifth-year senior punted six times in Vanderbilt’s 19-15 win over the Tigers, pinning Mizzou inside the 20 on two occasions. In addition, the Tigers had one 3-yard return in the contest after entering with one of the nation’s best return games.

For the season, Kent is averaging 45.2 yards per punt in one of the best seasons ever for a Commodore punter. He ranks fifth in the SEC, a league with five punters in the top 16 nationally in yards per punt.

Of Kent’s 26 punts this season, opponents have returned just eight for a total of 62 yards. He has eight punts of 50 yards or more, including a 67-yard boot against Northwestern that is the second-longest of any SEC punter this season.

Kent has placed 36% of his punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, while just two of his punts have gone for touchbacks.

Kent and the Commodores return to action this week against Florida. Kickoff at Vanderbilt Stadium is set for 5:00 p.m. CT and the game can be seen on ESPNU.
