Jones and Austin to face Georgia Tech in singles

TULSA, Okla. –

Gonzales Austin and Charlie Jones extended their singles success at the ITA Men’s All-American Championship, winning their second round qualifying matches in straight sets in Tulsa.

Facing a difficult opponent in Auburn’s Alex Stamchev, Austin won two close matches, including the latter set by tiebreaker, 6-4, 7-6(6). Jones defeated South Alabama’s Romain Bocaert 6-2, 7-5.

The duo lost their doubles match 8-6 against BYU’s pair of Francis Sargeant and Spencer Smith.

Austin and Jones continue play today against two Georgia Tech teammates, with Jones facing Juan Melian Puigventos and Austin going head to head with Kevin King at 10:00 CT.
