Johnson to Discuss Signees on Radio

2/1/2006

Nashville, Tenn. –  Commodore Head Coach Bobby Johnson believes the team’s Signing Class of 2006 may be the strongest since he arrived on the Vanderbilt campus and is scheduled to appear on several radio shows Wednesday and Thursday to talk about the class.

The 26-player class was announced today as part of National Signing Day activities.

“I’m extremely pleased with our signees and the effort our staff put in to develop it,” Johnson said. “I believe we succeeded in our goal of attracting an athletic class to follow up last year’s group. We’re definitely putting together a Commodore team that is becoming more athletic.”

The class includes multiple offensive line and defensive secondary prospects, areas that the Vanderbilt coaching staff looked to strengthen through the recruiting process.

“Our staff was able to do a good job filling some position needs, but we also took advantage of opportunities to take some skill guys that bring a tremendous among of ability to potential to the team. The class also includes several prospects that can play multiple positions,” the head coach said.
