Jill Doherty named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Vanderbilt attacker Jill Doherty was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her performances against UConn and Georgetown, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. This is her second Honor Roll appearance and the fifth time the Dores have earned BIG EAST honors this season.

Doherty spearheaded the Commodore offense in their 16-8 win over UConn on Wednesday. She tallied a team-high four goals, four draw controls, three ground balls, two assists and caused two turnovers against the Huskies. It was her fourth game this season with three or more goals and sixth game with multiple assists.

On Saturday against the Hoyas, Doherty led the team with three goals for her fifth hat trick this season. She won three draw controls, caused two turnovers, grabbed a ground ball and had an assist.

Doherty leads the ‘Dores in draw controls (55), points (45), ground balls (22), assists (21) and caused turnovers (14) this season. She is also third on the team in goals with 24. Doherty currently second all-time in school history in assists with 82 and ranks fifth all-time in draw controls with 144 for her career.

The Commodores will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Denver in Colorado. The Dores and Pioneers are slated to begin at 3 pm CT.
