Jennifer Lewis Named to All-Southeastern Conference First Team

ORANGE BEACH, Ala

. – Vanderbilt senior Jennifer Lewis was named to the All-Southeastern Conference First Team Wednesday night at the SEC Tournament Awards Banquet as voted on by the league’s head coaches. It is the second consecutive year Lewis earned first-team honors after earning second-team honors in 2001.

Lewis, a 5-8, Sr., midfielder, from Birmingham, Ala., played in all 17 regular-season games in the midfield and scored her first goal of the season in the regular season finale at Saint Louis. Lewis, one of nine seniors on the team, helped lead the Commodores to a 3-1-2 record in their last six games earning a No. 6 seed in the SEC Tournament after missing the tournament last season for the first time.

Kendra Sasa, a 5-8, Sr., defender, from Wheat Ridge, Colo. was named to the SEC Good Works Team. Sasa has participated in various community service projects, including serving as chair of the Kids Field Day at Vanderbilt and serving as the NCAA representative to the Student-Athlete Leadership Conference. She has also particpated in the Vanderbilt Student-Athlete Kids Christmas Party, Project P.L.A.Y. and the Vanderbilt Kids Zone. She is also a volunteer at the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and the Vanderbilt Soccer Camps.

The Commodores take on Florida tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 pm in first round action of the SEC Tournament.
