Hull of a Debut

Freshman swimmer earns SEC weekly honor following first collegiate meet

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — After earning an individual win and contributing to a relay victory in her first-ever collegiate meet, Vanderbilt’s Aubrey Hull was named SEC co-Swimmer of the Week it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

In her only individual race at the Commodores’ season-opening competition at Tulane on Friday, Hull posted a time of 55.36 to claim the 100 backstroke. That came after recording a 25.80 split in the opening leg of the 200 medley relay, giving Vandy a lead it would not relinquish in the first event of the meet. She also swam a leg in the 200 freestyle relay, helping the Dores to a second-place finish in the final race of the afternoon.

The freshman from Charlotte, North Carolina, met the CSCAA NIC B cut in both the 50 and 100 back with her performance, with her time in the 50 back also ranking eighth on Vanderbilt’s all-time performer list. Both marks also currently rank fourth in the nation.

Hull and the Commodores return to action with a tri-meet against South Carolina and No. 13 Georgia that will get underway in Columbia, South Carolina, at 3 p.m. CT on Oct. 11.
