Hoskins Nominated For Good Works Team

Vanderbilt wide receiver up for Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and Allstate Wuerffel Trophy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt wide receiver Richie Hoskins has been named a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The American Football Coaches Association announced the nominees Wednesday.

Allstate and the AFCA have presented the Good Works Team since 2004, honoring student-athletes from across all divisions of college football for their work in the community. Starting this fall, they will join forces with the Wuerffel Trophy, the top award for community service in college football. The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy will be presented to a member of the final Good Works Team at The Home Depot/ESPN College Football Awards Show in December.

Hoskins is the football team’s representative on Vandy’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), helping lead the team’s community service efforts alongside student-athletes from across the department. He led the team’s fundraising efforts at the annual SAAC Holiday Party to benefit Nashville’s Jones Elementary School. The efforts led to Jones receiving $500 to purchase items off the school’s wish list. Hoskins is also a leader in the Serving Together Field Day, which brought Jones students to campus for a day of activities with Commodore student-athletes.

On the field, Hoskins played all 12 games last season, making six catches for 83 yards and two touchdowns. He scored his first career touchdown at Florida and then scored again the next week against No. 1 Georgia. Hoskins played in one game as a sophomore at Vandy in 2022 after beginning his collegiate career at Division III Middlebury College in Vermont.

The Lake Forest, Illinois, native played football and lacrosse in high school, earning prep All-America honors on the lacrosse field. An economics major, Hoskins made the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll for the 2022-23 campaign and was named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll in 2023.

Hoskins and the Commodores open the 2024 season on Aug. 31 when Virginia Tech visits FirstBank Stadium (11 a.m. on ESPN). Ticket information is available here.
