Hoosiers net win over Dores

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 34 Vanderbilt Commodores battled No. 27 Indiana down to the last court on Sunday, but lost a heartbreaker 4-3.

After dropping the doubles point, the team worked their way back to tie up the match, with Anton Kovrigin, Charlie Jones, and Jeff Offerdahl winning their singles sets.

Kovrigin and Jones each won in straight sets, while Offerdahl forced a third set and won it 6-4 to make it 3-3 overall in the match.

Unfortunately for the Dores, Dimitrije Tasic outlasted Joe Dorn in the third set of the final match to earn the win for the Hoosiers, who improve to 5-2 on the season. The Commodores drop to 2-3.

“Result-wise on the weekend, we were 0-2,” said Head Coach Ian Duvenhage, referring to the Dores second loss after dropping Friday’s match to Harvard. “But, if you look at it, we were three points away from going 2-0. We’re doing it without one of our best players, and we’re doing it with a very young team. So I’m very encouraged by our competition, and we’re building something very special.”

Vanderbilt will host Brown this coming Friday, February 10th at 2 p.m. CT in their next match.
