Vanderbilt is coming off of a two-game skid, with both setbacks to nationally-ranked foes, No. 13 Michigan and No. 21 Penn State. Wednesday’s matchup with second-ranked Notre Dame will mark the end of the six-game homestand for Vanderbilt, and the Dores will make their first road trip after nearly a month on West End when they visit Winthrop.

It will be the 20th all-time meeting between the Commodores and Fighting Irish. Vanderbilt won the first meeting in March 1997, 20-13, but the Dores fell 18-6 in last March’s meeting. This is the second all-time matchup with Winthrop—the Commodores defeated the Eagles last March by a 17-3 margin.
