NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The university and Vanderbilt community will honor three seniors from the women’s cross country team at halftime of the Homecoming football game, which begins at 2 p.m. today on Dudley Field in Vanderbilt Stadium. Kellianne Kleeman, Amanda Scott and Sarah Scott will receive recognition as “Outstanding Seniors” along with 10 other standouts.
“It’s great to see Sarah and Amanda and Kellianne succeeding off the cross country course, as well as on it,” Rhonda Riley, VU assistant XC coach, said. “To be named one of the top-10 outstanding seniors on Homecoming is pretty special, and I’m really proud of them.”
According to the Vanderbilt Programming Board Web site, the Outstanding Senior award highlights a senior level student who’s maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0, while best representing the university as a student leader during the annual Homecoming festivities and positively impacting their extracurricular organizations and the entire Vanderbilt Community. The Outstanding Senior Award is the only award on campus given that is both merit-based and student-selected, the site continued.
Kleeman is currently majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in theater. The senior from Klamath Falls, Ore. is also involved in the following university organizations: Neuroscience Honors Research, NCAA Division I Track and Field, Athletes Against Assault, Neuroscience Majors Executive Board (President), Students for Kenya (Chair of Athletic Relations), and Live-It Facilitator (Student Leader).
Amanda Scott comes to Vanderbilt from Virginia Beach, Va., and is majoring in chemical engineering and chemistry. She’s also involved in American Institute of Engineers, Habitat for Humanity (New Orleans Trip), OASIS Center Street Outreach Program (Teacher/Tutor), Reformed University Fellowship, Student Athletic Advisory Committee (Secretary), Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science (Team Leader), Vanderbilt Students for Students, and NCAA Division I Track and Field.
Sarah Scott, an Indianapolis native, will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, while participating in Alternative Spring Break (Executive Board Member–Placements Co-Chair), NCAA Division I Track and Field, Alternative Winter Break, High Poverty Youth Mentor, and Kappa Delta (Fall Philanthropy Event Coordinator).
