• Stanford is coming off a 10-9 victory over No. 9/8 Clemson on Saturday, led by Mallory Hasselbeck and Amanda Lawson who each scored two goals
• Stanford, which up until the latter stages of the third quarter had not led in the game, utilized a five-goal swing between the third and fourth quarters while holding strong defensively to ride out the victory over previously undefeated Clemson
• Stanford entered the season ranked No. 5 in both the ILWomen.com and IWLCA Polls which was the highest preseason ranking for the Cardinal all-time
The Scouting Report
• Returning to action for the first time since April 13, 2024, Annabel Frist has been clinical in her first two games this season, recording two goals and an assist while tallying 12 draw controls and four caused turnovers. First currently ranks ninth all-time in career goals with 127 while slotting second all-time in draw controls with 330, just 42 draw controls away from tying Genesis Lucero for the top spot all-time
• Ava Arceri returns for her junior season having scored in all 21 games last season, earning 56 goals and 19 assists for 75 points while tallying 11 hat tricks. Arceri’s 56 goals in 2025 ranks fourth-most all time in a single season while her 75 points in seventh all-time in a single season
• Lucy Pearson returns for her senior season having been one of the best goalkeepers in the ACC a season ago which earned her All-ACC Third Team honors. Pearson recorded a 15-6 record in 21 starts while earning 1,197 minutes in cage which is the second most minutes by a goalkeeper in a single-season in Cardinal 7 #GoStanford program history. Her 21 appearances is also the most games played by a goalkeeper in a single-season in program history
Last Time Out
• Nancy Halleron led all scorers with four goals to lead Vanderbilt to its first win of the year in a 14-11 decision over Mercer on Thursday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex. Vanderbilt (1-1) opened the scoring with Anna Taraboletti connecting for the first time this season before Halleron registered a first-quarter hat trick to help give the Dores a 5-2 lead after the opening 15 minutes. Vandy extended its lead in the second quarter with a pair from Brooke Baker and carried a 7-3 edge into halftime
• Taraboletti, Bailey Lower and Alex Gladding all scored to push the Commodores’ lead in the third while Gabby Putman scored her first career goal. Putman picked up a game-high nine draw controls. Emme Martin anchored the defense with a career-best 10 saves. Gladding caused a game-high three turnovers and picked up two ground balls
• Mercer (0-2) mounted a late comeback attempt with five goals in the fourth quarter, led by Ansley Walters and Caroline Glus, who scored three goals apiece. The Bears closed within three in the final minutes, but Vanderbilt held on down the stretch.
Preseason Honors
• Graduates Brooke Baker and Nancy Halleron along with junior Alex Gladding were unanimously named All-Conference Preseason Team
• Baker, who was named all-conference first team last season, had the third-most goals with 41 and dished a career-high eight assists for the second-most points on the team at 49. The graduate picked up 29 ground balls, won 25 draws and caused nine turnovers during the regular season. The Raleigh, North Carolina, native was named AAC Midfielder of the Week twice during 2025 and honorable mention once
• Gladding, named 2025 all-conference second team, was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, helped anchor a defense that picked up 281 ground balls and caused 135 turnovers. The native of Pompano Beach, Florida, scored her first collegiate goal this season and dished out two assists
• After missing the 2024 season due to injury, Halleron scored a career-best 43 goals off 62 shots on frame and dished four assists to total 47 points, third-most on the team. Halleron received weekly honorable mentions five times after scoring 16 goals during conference play to earn an all-conference second team selection
• Out of the seven teams in the conference, Vanderbilt was picked to finish fourth while James Madison, South Florida and East Carolina were picked ahead of Vandy, respectively, by the coaches
