Weekend matches for Vandy include Auburn on Friday, Tennessee on Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis returns home this weekend, scheduled to compete against Auburn on Friday and Tennessee on Sunday.

Last weekend saw the Commodores (10-7, 1-4 SEC) split their matches, claiming a 4-3 victory over Ole Miss on Sunday and dropping their match on Friday to No. 19 Mississippi State. The Dores are ranked 56th in the latest ITA rankings, and freshman Danil Panarin holds a No. 85 rank in singles. The duo of Michael Ross and Joubert Klopper is ranked 53rd in doubles.

Auburn
Ranked 21st, the Tigers enter Friday’s match 13-5 for the season, with a 4-1 record in conference play. This past weekend, Auburn competed against No. 25 Florida and No. 16 South Carolina, defeating both the Gators and Gamecocks 4-1. In the latest ITA rankings, Auburn features two student-athletes ranked nationally for singles and one duo in doubles.

Tennessee
The Vols (16-4, 5-1 SEC) are coming off a victory over No. 29 LSU on Sunday, where they posted a 4-0 win. On Friday, Tennessee competed against Texas A&M, ranked 10th, and dropped the match 2-5. As of this week, three Vol student-athletes are ranked in singles, alongside two doubles duos.

Home Match Notes

Because of construction around Vanderbilt athletic facilities, all outdoor competitions for the spring 2024 season will be played at the Ensworth Tennis Center, about 20 minutes from campus at 7405 TN-100, Nashville, Tenn. 37221. In case of rain, matches will be moved indoors to the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Pavilion at the Lummis Family Tennis Center, and admission is free. Free parking is available in the 25th Avenue Garage through the Highland Avenue entrance. Vanderbilt tennis matches will enforce a clear bag policy. 

Promotions: Friday and Sunday’s promotions will feature five $75 Lululemon gift cards given away at each match. Attendees must stay until the end of the match to be eligible.

Up Next: Next weekend the Commodores travel to College Station to face Texas A&M on Friday at 1 p.m.
