NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis returns to dual match play tomorrow with a home doubleheader against Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech as the team begins its 2026 campaign.
The Dores open Wednesday against Tennessee State (0-2). They downed the Tigers 6-1 in their last meeting in 2024 and own a 10-0 record in the all-time series. Eight of those 10 total matches have been sweeps, with Vanderbilt holding a 65-2 point advantage overall. Tennessee State arrives on West End with two losses after falling on the road to UAB and Memphis over the weekend; both scores ended 6-1. The Commodores will then turn their attention to Tennessee Tech, who trails Vandy 20-4 all-time. The black and gold most recently knocked off the Golden Eagles 7-0 last season.
Vanderbilt enters the year with six underclassmen on the roster. This includes the No. 1 ranked recruiting class of 2025, which consists of freshmen Hoyoung Roh, Jack Satterfield, Hwang Donghyun and Cayden Wang. Sophomore Pablo Martinez Gomez has been the highlight of the underclassmen throughout the fall season, delivering the Dores their first NCAA Championships qualifier since 2023-24 after earning a co-champion singles title in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships.
Multiple players currently represent the black and gold in the ITA individual rankings. Martinez Gomez is the highest ranked Commodore in singles at No. 62 and is joined by junior Hugo Coquelin at No. 94. In doubles, the duo of junior Danil Panarin and freshman Jack Satterfield sit at No. 42; Coquelin and Satterfield round out the Dores at No. 60. It is Coquelin’s first time in the singles rankings while also being his highest career doubles ranking.
Vanderbilt hosts Tennessee State at 11 a.m. before taking on Tennessee Tech at 5 p.m. Live streaming will be available online with live stats accessible via IonCourt at the start of the match.
