6/7/2006 Game honors the careers of top D-I seniors 4BALTIMORE, Md. — Departed Vanderbilt attacker Kate Hickman has been invited to represent the South Team in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s 2006 Farewell Festival this Saturday at Homewood Field. All 49 Division I student-athletes selected to participate in the event have exhausted their NCAA eligibility. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET on the campus of Johns Hopkins University, and will be followed by an awards banquet to honor collegiate lacrosse All-Americans. An impressive 2006 season punctuated Hickman’s stellar career at Vanderbilt. She led the Commodores in goals and points for the second-straight year, jumping to third all-time in the Vanderbilt record books in both categories. The Severna Park, Md., native closed her career by scoring at least one goal in 42 consecutive games. In the past month, Hickman has received numerous honors, including first-team All-American Lacrosse Conference, first-team IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region and second-team Academic All-Region. She graduated in May with a degree in communication studies and plans to attend the University of Maryland to pursue a Master’s degree in sports commerce and culture.
