NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Top-seeded Vanderbilt soccer’s historic season came to an end as TCU topped the Commodores 2-1 in overtime Saturday night at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.
Junior Sydney Watts broke open the scoring in the 77th minute, finishing a cross from Ally Bollig and Vivian Akyirem to give the Commodores a 1–0 advantage. TCU responded nine minutes later when Emma Yolinsky struck a shot off the crossbar and in, to level the match and send it to overtime.
In the 96th minute, the Horned Frogs earned a penalty after a foul inside the box. Sydney Becerra converted from the spot to secure the golden goal and the Frogs’ place in the NCAA College Cup.
Vanderbilt (18-4-2) outshot TCU 31-8, including 10 shots on target, and earned a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Dores finished the season with historic marks, including the most wins in a season since 1994, most shutouts since 2005 and most goals scored since 2018.
