Hartman Claims U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Title

Incoming men's golf freshman earns an exemption into the 2025 U.S. Amateur

EDISON, N.J. – Incoming Vanderbilt men’s golf freshman Will Hartman captured the title at the 101st U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey.

Hartman won the U.S Amateur Four-Ball Championship, as he teamed up with Tyler Mawhinney to post a 3&1 victory over Evan Beck and Dan Walters in the title match on Wednesday afternoon.

With the victory, Hartman earns custody of the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Trophy for a year. He also earns an exemption into the 2025 U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club in San Francisco on August 11-17. The Marvin, North Carolina, native also earned a 10-year exemption to the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. Additionally, Hartman picked up an exemption into the 2025 U.S. Junior Amateur, U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Senior Amateur, if age-eligible.

Hartman is part of Vanderbilt’s No. 1-ranked 2025 signing class. He is joined by Michael Riebe and Jon Ed Steed, as all three will begin their Commodore careers this fall. Hartman comes to the Music City after recently graduating from Charlotte Catholic High School. He is the No. 10-ranked player in the Class of 2025 by Junior Golf Scoreboard and the Rolex AJGA Rankings. The newest Commodore has been named a Rolex AJGA All-American three times during his junior career.

He has twice represented the United States at the junior level. In 2023, he was a member of the U.S. Junior Ryder Cup Team, and in 2024, he was a part of the U.S. Junior Presidents Cup Team. Hartman was also a member of the inaugural USGA Development Team along with fellow Vandy signee Riebe and additionally was a semifinalist at the 2023 United States Junior Amateur.

The No. 16-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team opens the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship on Friday at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California. The Commodores tee off Round 1 at 3:40 p.m. CT. Fans can click the link here for live results.
