Ann Arbor, Mich. — Chad Harris, a senior on the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team, will make his fall debut this weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s National Indoor Championships, hosted by the University of Michigan.

Harris ended the 2003 spring season at No. 10 in the nation and earned a No. 6 preseason ranking this Sept., but he has been forced to sit out most of the fall season while recovering from off-season back surgery. Harris posted a 34-11 singles record a year ago on his way to All-America honors.

Harris is one of only 32 players in the nation invited to the National Indoor Championships, and his return to the court certainly will not be simple. In the first round, Harris faces Ohio State’s Jeremy Wurtzman, who received a No. 20 ranking in the ITA’s preseason poll and is ranked No. 5 in the tournament.

“I am very excited for Chad to get back out onto the court,” Coach Ken Flach said. “He’s made a very impressive comeback and I can’t wait to get him back into playing matches.”
