Hahnfeldt Named SEC Player of the Week 11/7/2005
Vanderbilt freshman Bryant Hahnfeldt was named the Southeastern Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week Monday, as announced by the league office. The Nashville-native, who handles all punting, place-kicking and kick-off responsibilities for the Commodores, earned the honor after his most successful outing of what has already been a successful season. In last Saturday’s game at Florida, Hahnfeldt established a career high with a 51.7 yard average on his three punts. The Montgomery Bell alumnus also converted all six of his extra-point attempts, including a 35-yard attempt that put the Commodores into the overtime. Hahnfeldt was also instrumental on a successfully converted on-sides kick which preceded the game-tying drive at the end of regulation. Hahnfeldt is also moving his way up the Vanderbilt single-season record books. He is tied for seventh place for most points by a placekicker with 58 points, and he is tied for tenth place for most field goals with 11 on the year. With two games left in the regular season he’ll have a chance to keep climbing in both categories, beginning with Saturday’s game against Kentucky. The final home game of 2005 will kick off at 1 p.m. following the recognition of VU’s 21 seniors for Senior Day. |
