Goldsmith, List One-Over After First Day 10/10/2005 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team stands in 12th place following 36 holes of action at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, played on the par-71, 6,958-yard Old Overton Club. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets led the entire day, putting together a two-round total of 552 (16-under-par). Georgia Tech leads Georgia and Alabama-Birmingham by nine strokes heading into Tuesday’s final round. Vanderbilt was led by juniors Dos Goldsmith and Luke List, both at one-over-par after the first day. Goldsmith was the most consistent Commodore on the day, following an even-par first round with a one-over second. List started the morning with an opening round of one-under par before going two-over in his second round. Senior Will Armstrong and freshman Jon Curran traded rounds of 75 (four-over) and 73 (two-over) to both finish Day One at six-over-par. Freshman Tyler Matthews rounded out the Commodore squad with a two-round total of 161 (19-over-par). Nine of the nation’s top 25 teams are competing in the tournament, including the defending national champion and top-ranked Bulldogs. Tuesday’s final round is scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. CT.
