Commodores fall to No. 13 Bulldogs in road finale

ATHENS, Ga. – In its final road match of the season, the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team fell to No. 13 Georgia by a 4-1 score on Sunday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The Bulldogs (11-5, 5-4) took the early edge and nabbed the doubles point with wins coming at Nos. 3 and 1. Marcus Ferreira and Adam Sraberg battled in an unfinished match that put them on the wrong side of a 5-3 scoreline at No. 2.

Georgia won three of the four completed singles matches over the Commodores (5-11, 0-8) with two coming in straight sets to clinch the match. George Harwell made quick work of his Bulldogs opposition in a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 1 to get the Dores on the board.

Marcus Ferreira and Joubert Kloppper fought in three-set matches at Nos. 2 and 6, but both went unfinished.

Vanderbilt will return to action against Nashville rival, Tennessee State, on Tuesday at the Currey Tennis Center. First serve will be at 1 p.m.
