Freshmen, senior net wins at scramble

ATHENS, Ga. – Freshman Suresh Eswaran stepped into day two of singles play at the Bulldog Scramble and won both matches for the Commodores, including a match with three tie-breaker sets.

Eswaran defeated Georgia’s Will Oliver in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. He also beat Juan Pablo Gutierrez of Georgia Southern to round out his day of play with a 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 marathon match.

Michael Retta, Jeff Offerdahl, and Alex DiValerio defeated their opponents in straight sets. Retta nearly forced a third set in his second match, but dropped the match 6-1, 7-5. Against Georgia’s Reynolds, Retta won two close sets to win the match.

The Bulldog Scramble continues Sunday at 9:30 a.m. with a round of singles and around of doubles being played on the final day.
