ATLANTA – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team competed in the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday and notched eight victories at the Ken Byers Tennis Center.
The Commodores started the day tabbing three victories in doubles in the first round advancing to the semifinals of their respective draws.
In the semifinals, Commodore duo Adam Sraberg and James Ignatowich advanced to the doubles finals in the Navy draw with a 6-3 victory over Auburn’s Chavarria and Dollman.
In the first round of singles, sophomore Macsen Sisam and Christiaan Worst picked up victories in the Olde Gold draw.
Sisam defeated South Carolina’s Brown, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, followed by Worst taking down Tennessee’s Wallner, 6-3, 7-6, 7-6.
In the White draw, junior George Harwell and freshman Ignatowich marked their spots in the singles quarterfinals.
Harwell took the court against South Carolina’s Jordan falling short in the first set, 1-6. Bouncing back to claim the match, Harwell defeated Jordan 7-5 in the second set followed by a 7-6 victory in the final set.
Ignatowich tabbed his fourth singles victory of the fall season defeating Georgia Tech’s Yun, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (10).
The Commodores will be back in action on Sunday at 7 a.m. CT to battle in the singles quarterfinals followed by the semifinals.
