NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The ITA released its preseason top 125 rankings Tuesday with two Vanderbilt student-athletes notching singles recognition and a double pair earning nationally acclaim.
Opening the fall season with a singles title at the Commodore Scramble, senior Billy Rowe leads the Commodores coming in at No. 123 among singles players. Rowe posted a strong junior campaign last season, concluding with 24 victories while only dropping one match at home. Rowe also secured his first All-America accolade in doubles with teammate Cameron Klinger.
Rowe is joined in the rankings by junior George Harwell (125th). Harwell enters the season after dropping only one match in his 2019 fall season debut. Last season, Harwell posted a 19-18 overall record and clinched the Dores’ SEC opener against Ole Miss with a 6-4, 6-4, victory over Fili Kraljevic.
In doubles, Rowe paired with junior Max Freeman to check in at No. 31. The pair opened the fall season by dropping only one match in the Commodore Scramble to earn a spot in the doubles final.
Looking to maintain their successful fall season, the Commodores will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to compete in the ITA All-American tournament on Oct. 5.
