Former Vandy Men’s Tennis player wins singles title in Calif.

Bobby Reynolds, a two-time All-American at Vanderbilt University, traveled to Claremont, CA last weekend to win the singles title at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center USTA Pro Classic.

            Bobby was originally seeded third in the tournament but came out on top defeating unseeded Huntley Montgomery in the final round. For winning the classic, Reynolds takes home $15,000 in prize money.

            Reynolds also competed in doubles action in the same tournament He finished second alongside partner Huntley Montgomery. Their first seeded team lost to doubles team Nick Rainey and Brian Wilson.

 

            Reynolds was a highly talented tennis player at Vanderbilt. He currently holds the singles record for best winning percentage at 73.9% and most wins at 99 (’00-’03). He also shared in the doubles’ record for most wins with 26 when teamed up with current Vanderbilt assistant coach Eddie Coates.
