Former Vanderbilt All-American Brandt Snedeker Set To Make PGA Tour Debut
Opens Professional Career at Shell Houston Open over April 22-25

Coming off a successful Masters run as an amateur, former Vanderbilt All-America golfer Brandt Snedeker will make his debut as a PGA TOUR professional at this weekend’s Shell Houston Open on the par-72, 7,508-yard Redstone Golf Club course in Houston, Texas. The Nashville, Tenn., native and former Montgomery Bell Academy star will tee off at 1:50 p.m. CT on Thursday with Lucas Glover (Greenville, S.C.) and Roland Thatcher (The Woodlands, Texas). Live results can be followed on www.pgatour.com.

Snedeker got a taste of PGA TOUR action back over April 5-11 by participating in the Masters in Augusta, Ga. He earned the right to play in the prestigious major by winning the 2003 U.S. Amateur Public Links Tournament at the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in New Jersey, and made the most of his opportunity in Augusta by opening with rounds of 73-75 to make the cut and earn the right to play through the weekend. Snedeker completed the Masters in a tie for 41st position at 12-over par 300 (73-75-75-77) and finished as the tournament’s second-rated amateur.

The first Vanderbilt Commodore men’s golfer to be named as a First-Team All-American, Snedeker spent time during his senior year as the nation’s number one ranked player by both Golfstat and the Golfweek/Sagarin poll. He was also chosen during his senior campaign as the Southeastern Conference’s Male Golfer of the Year and was tabbed as an All-SEC selection for the third consecutive season. He won the 2002 Mason Rudolph individual title with a Vanderbilt school-record three-round total of 198 and held the top two single round scores in VU history with a pair of 65’s until Commodore freshman sensation Luke List’s round of 63 during this year’s Hyatt/Dorado Beach Intercollegiate.
