Former Commodore Brandt Snedeker Takes Second In Nationwide Tour Event On Sunday at the Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield, Mo., former Vanderbilt All-America Brandt Snedeker fired a nine-under par 63 to register a second-place finish in the Nationwide Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship. Snedeker completed the tournament with a four-day total of 24-under par 264 (68-66-67-63) to fall just one shot short of champion Brad Ott (65-66-68-64–263). For the weekend, the 2003 Vanderbilt graduate carded an impressive 31 birdies against just seven bogeys, while posting four rounds in the 60’s for his best finish as a professional. Snedeker opened his final round of 63 with consecutive birdies on holes #1-3 before suffering the lone bogey of his day at the par-3 fourth hole. Unfazed, the Nashville, Tenn., native and 2003 U.S. Amateur Public Links Champion rebounded to birdie the par-3 sixth and the par-4 ninth holes to complete his opening nine in 4-under par 32. The back nine proved to be even more successful for the former Commodore as he posted a 5-under par 31. His finish was highlighted by birdies at #11, #12, #14 and #16 before closing strongly with a four on the par-5 18th. The first Commodore men’s golfer to be named as a First Team All-American, Snedeker spent time during his senior season as the nation’s number-one ranked golfer according to both Golfstat and the Golfweek/Sagarin poll. He also received the Southeastern Conference’s 2003 Male Golfer of the Year award and was chosen as a First Team All-SEC member for the third consecutive campaign. He won the 2002 Mason Rudolph individual title with a Vanderbilt school-record three-round total of 198 and held the top two single-round scores in VU history, with a pair of 65’s, until current Commodore Luke List registered a round of 9-under par 63 during last season’s Hyatt/Dorado Beach Intercollegiate.
