NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt had four score in double figures in a game it never trailed, beating Mississippi State 77-72 inside Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Jordan Wright led the way for Vandy as the senior scored 19 points in his team’s eighth win in the past nine games. Ezra Manjon had 15 points and seven assists, while Tyrin Lawrence add 16 and Myles Stute scored 12.
The Commodores (18-13, 11-7 SEC) will be the No. 6 seed for next week’s SEC Tournament at Bridgestone Arena. Vandy will face the winner of LSU-Georgia at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Vanderbilt led by as many as 12 late in the first half and by as many as 15 early in the second half. Mississippi State (20-11, 8-10 SEC) could only get within two with eight seconds on the clock during a second-half comeback that eventually fell short.
