Five Dores Named to SEC Preseason Watchlist

Vanderbilt soccer picked to finish seventh overall

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Vanderbilt soccer wrapped up the 2023 preseason with five student-athletes listed on the SEC Preseason Watchlist released Tuesday. Fifth-year defender Maya Antoine, seniors Abi Brighton and Jada Konte and junior Rachel Deresky and sophomore Hannah McLaughlin represent the Dores.

Antoine was named to First-Team All-SEC in 2022 and was Second Team All-SEC the previous season. McLaughlin earned 2022 SEC All-Freshman Team honors while Brighton made the 2020 SEC All-Freshman Team.

Last season, the Commodores finished second in the SEC East Division and earned a berth in the conference’s postseason tournament. Vandy would go on to make the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

Vanderbilt will host 12 contests in 2023 including five SEC matches with Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Missouri, Florida and Tennessee all scheduled to visit Music City this year.

The Commodores will also host Middle Tennessee in the first-ever college match at GEODIS Park on Sept. 10.

The Dores open their season with a pair of home matches against Chattanooga (Thursday) and UMass (Sunday) before hitting the road at Kansas on Aug. 24.
