ATHENS, Ga. – Joe Dorn had an impressive finish to the fall tournament season. The Vanderbilt freshman won his sets to finish Saturday and Sunday’s singles play, and paired up with classmate Jeff Offerdahl to win in doubles.
Dorn won in straight sets on Saturday against Clemson’s Zachary Rigsby, 6-2, 6-1, and went on to beat Georgia Southern’s Thomas Cook in three sets. Dorn fell behind in the first set, dropping it 1-6 before coming back with back-to-back decisive 6-2, 6-1 results for the win.
Offerdahl won his own match on Saturday in a close decision, beating Georgia Tech’s Dusan Miljevic 7-6, 6-4. He dropped his match Sunday against Georgia Southern’s Victor Valente after close first set.
Senior Alex DiValerio battled back in Saturday’s play against Hunter Harrington from Clemson after dropping his first set to earn the win, but fell to Georgia’s Nathan Pasha Sunday after winning the first set.
The men are set to begin their spring season on January 13th at the SEC Indoors in Lexington, Kentucky, when the young team will find themselves facing an SEC slate of opponents.
