OCALA, Fla. — Competing in the final meet of their freshman season at Vanderbilt, swimmers Emily Constable and Aubrey Hull both reached multiple finals at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship, which concluded Saturday at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training facility.
The former advanced to the night session on each of the first two days of competition, with the latter moving on the last two days of the event.
“Those were strong performances this week from Emily and Aubrey,” head coach Jeremy Organ said. “The two have really worked hard this year and raised the bar for expectations for next season.”
Kailia Utley will conclude the Commodores’ 2024-25 campaign when she swims at the NCAA Championships, with prelims in the first of two events the senior will be competing in scheduled for Friday morning.
Meet Highlights
-Constable placed third in the consolation final of the 50 breast on the opening day of the competition after qualifying 13th overall, with Hull ending up 22nd out of 49 competitors in 50 back prelims that morning.
-On the second day of the meet Hull finished second in the 100 back consolation final while Constable ended up third in the consolation final of the 100 breast.
-Hull wrapped up her third day of the competition with a third-place finish in the consolation final of the 200 back.
-Constable was 29th in a field of 51 swimmers in prelims of the 200 breast on Saturday as well.
Notes
-Constable posted a career-low 28.44 mark in the 50 breast finals.
-With a 1:57.57 time in finals of the 200 back, Hull finished with a mark nearly two seconds faster than in prelims when she qualified 18th among the 45 swimmers in the event.
-Her mark of 54.19 in 100 back finals on Friday was only .12 seconds behind the race winner.
-In 100 breast finals, Constable shaved more than half a second off her prelims mark—which was 16th overall in qualifying—after touching the wall in 1:01.77, less than .2 seconds behind the victor of the race.
-Hull missed advancing to finals in the 50 back by just .02 seconds after posting a time of 25.75.
