NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt Lacrosse assistant coach Susan Ellis has been named the 2008-2009 Assistant Coach of the Year by the IWLCA.
Currently in her 11th season with the Commodores, Ellis is the first ever recipient of the award. Since joining the coaching staff in 2000, she has helped guide Vanderbilt to four appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including an appearance in the 2004 NCAA Final Four.
“Sue has been such an important part of our program for so long, that it is extremely gratifying to see her get the credit she deserves,” said Head Coach Cathy Swezey. “She makes a significant impact on our teams’ ability to succeed on the field, and she does so much for me in the office that she is irreplaceable. I am so happy for Sue and for what the honor means to our program.”
