NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Ella Eggleston was named SEC Freshman of the Week Monday after scoring her fifth goal of the season to secure Vanderbilt’s 1-0 victory over Missouri in the Commodores’ only match last week.
Eggleston checked back into the match in the 83rd minute on Friday as Vanderbilt put up two shots over the next minute but couldn’t connect. The Commodores earned their ninth corner kick of the game, and Abi Brighton served into the box to find Eggleston for the header into the back of the net.

The Austin, Texas, native has now registered two game-winners this season, both of which have come in conference play. Eggleston has seen over 700 minutes of action this year and tallied five goals and two assists for 12 points.
“Ella has brought a work rate and toughness to the team since the day she stepped on campus,” said head coach Darren Ambrose. “She is dangerous in the final third and always finds ways to impact games.”
The Commodores return to action on Thursday at Mississippi State at 6 p.m.
