INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Vanderbilt lacrosse earned its first road win of the season after a 17-16 decision over Butler on Wednesday afternoon. Brooke Baker powered the Commodores with five goals for the second consecutive game.
Vanderbilt (2-0) opened the game on a 4-0 scoring run before Butler (1-2) responded with five unanswered goals. The game had nine ties and five lead changes before the Commodores took the final lead off a free position goal with 3:42 remaining to seal the win.
Kemper Robinson finished with three goals, a career-best six draw controls and a game-high tying three caused turnovers. Freshman Anna Taraboletti posted her first collegiate hat trick, finishing with three goals on five shots, one ground ball and one draw control.
Junior Molly Finlay posted five points on four goals and one assist and added two ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover.
Butler’s Leah Rubino had five goals and two assists for seven points to lead the Bulldogs. Delaney Hudson added four points on four assists off the bench.
Vandy continues its road stance on Saturday when it visit Stanford. The game is slated for 8 p.m. CT and will be shown on Pac-12 Plus.
