NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tyrin Lawrence recorded season highs with 22 points and eight rebounds Saturday to help lead Vanderbilt to a 69-53 men’s basketball win over Dartmouth at Memorial Gymnasium.
Ezra Manjon added 23 points and five assists for the Commodores (5-8), who limited the Big Green (4-9) to 37.7 percent shooting from the floor including allowing just 5-of-22 attempts from 3-point range. Vandy also turned the ball over only six times on the afternoon.
There were five ties and three lead changes in the first half, with Vanderbilt taking control of the contest with a 12-2 run over the final four and a half minutes before the break. The Dores extended their advantage to 38-27 on a Lawrence jumper in the paint with 15 minutes to go and would lead by double figures the rest of the way.
Brandon Mitchell-Day and Dusan Neskovic each recorded 14 points and nine rebounds for Dartmouth, with Jaren Johnson scoring 10 as well.
The Commodores will open SEC action at home against Alabama on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 2:30 p.m. on SEC Network.
