“Overall, I thought we competed well today,” head coach John Williamson said. “We put ourselves in a good position to be in the championship bracket Sunday. We need to start strong tomorrow and build momentum going into bracket play.”
Jacksonville State, voted preseason No. 1, sits atop the leaderboard with 10,546 pins. Arkansas State and Vanderbilt are in second and third with respective pin totals of 10,435 and 10,419.
Graduate student Isabel Allen bowled her way to a top five individual finish, posting scores of 215, 226, 218, 226 and 264. Junior Victoria Varano and senior Paige Peters were also ranked among the top 20 individual performances.
The Dores started the day with a lineup of Allen, junior Alyssa Ballard, sophomore Natalie Kent, Varano and Peters. Senior Kailee Channell and freshmen Sydney Bohn and Saphyre Nofuente saw game action as well. It was Bohn and Nofuente’s collegiate bowling debut.

Varano contributed a clean 259 to the Dores’ total, striking eight times in a row to close out the game.
