Dores Support Food Drive

Donations can be made at both men’s and women’s basketball games this weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt Basketball announced Wednesday a fundraising effort on behalf of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee in order to provide food to people facing hunger and work to advance hunger solutions. Donations will be accepted when the men play host to Alabama A&M on Saturday, and when the women take on Louisiana Tech Sunday at Memorial Gymnasium.

Commodore fans will be able to donate canned, non-perishable items at marketing tables located at Gates 1, 3, and 6 throughout both contests. Those who cannot attend either day will be able to contribute by making a virtual donation by clicking HERE.

Food shortages, inflation and supply chain issues across the country have drastically impacted Second Harvest’s ability to source donations on behalf of the one in eight people who struggle with hunger every day in Middle and West Tennessee. Items needed include canned soups and stews, canned fruits and vegetables, canned chicken and tuna, peanut butter, cereal and oatmeal, and rice and pasta.

Tip-off for the men’s game Saturday is 4 p.m., and the women will get underway at 1 p.m. Sunday.
