AUBURN, Ala. – Allie Voss became the second freshman this season to break the school’s 100-yard breaststroke record by posting a 1:04.11 at the third day of the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Friday.

Voss’s time shattered fellow freshman Laura Dillon’s previous record of 1:05.78. Voss school record time placed 25th overall in the preliminaries. Once again almost every Commodore that swam Friday, recorded a season or career-best time.

The Columbia, S.C. native, trimmed an amazing three-and-a-half seconds off her previous season-high (1:07.67) in the 100 breaststroke.

In addition to Voss’s record setting performance, two other Commodores cracked the previous 100-breaststroke record Friday. Dillon swam a season-best 1:04.47, finishing two spots back of Voss in 27th place. The Reston, Va., native’s time was 1.31 seconds faster than her previous season best.

Fellow freshman Elizabeth Brunk also swam a personal record Friday in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a 1:05.75. Brunk’s time was nearly 2 seconds faster than her previous season-high, in which she set in November at the Hilltopper Invitational. Earlier in the day, Brunk swam a team and season-high 4:43.69 in the 400-yard Individual Medley.

Junior Jess Cohen also swam a personal best in the 100 breast with a 1:10.82, trimming two seconds off her previous career-high.

Sophomore Christina Chao led the Vanderbilt contingent in the 200-yard freestyle with a career-best 1:57.32, finishing in 39th place in the preliminaries. Chao’s time was over four seconds faster than her previous season-high. Fellow sophomore Anna Fargo joined Chao under the two-minute mark, finishing with a career-best 1:57.99. Entering the SEC meet, Fargo’s season-best time was 2:01.58. Freshman Zoe Cooper-Surma took nearly four seconds off her previous season-best performance with a 200-free time of 2:00.04.

Alexandra Jennings once again led the `Dores in the 100-yard backstroke, recording a 1:01.78, finishing in 32nd place. Jennings time is the second fastest time a Commodore has swam this season. Senior Rebecca Rogers continued her strong week at her last SEC Championships with a career-best 1:03.33 in the 100 backstroke. Rogers’ mark was three seconds faster than her previous career-high. Austin Langley followed suit in the 100-back with a career-high 1:04.17, trimming two seconds off her previous high time.
