The Commodores travel to Davidson for their last game before final exams on Wednesday night at Belk Arena for a 6 p.m. CT tip off. The game can be seen live on ESPN3, and heard live on the Vanderbilt Radio Network from IMG College.

Vanderbilt has dropped two consecutive overtime games, both to ranked foes. VU lost an 82-70 overtime contest against Xavier on November 28, and most recently a 62-60 loss to Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center on Friday, December 2nd.

Junior guard John Jenkins leads the Commodores and SEC in scoring, averaging 21.1 points per game, and also leads the conference and nation in three’s made per game with 4.1.

More on the Davidson series

  • Wednesday’s meeting will be the fifth meeting between the two schools, and the second in two years. Vanderbilt’s visit to Davidson is the back end of a home-and-home agreement which began last season. VU won last year’s meeting, 80-52, on January 2, 2011.
  • The Commodores have visited Davidson one other time – 43 years ago to the day on December 7, 1968. The Wildcats won that meeting, 101-84.
  • Vanderbilt has no players from the state of North Carolina.
  • Davidson forward Chris Czerapowicz is from Gothenburg, Sweden. Vanderbilt forward Jeffery Taylor is from Norrkoping, Sweden.

  • Vanderbilt is 5-3 on the season after a 62-60 overtime loss to Louisville Friday night at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. John Jenkins led all scorers in the game with 27 points.
  • Jenkins leads the SEC in scoring with 21.1 points per game and ranks first in the nation in three’s made per game with 4.1 per contest.
  • The ‘Dores held a nine-point lead in the second half, but could not hold on.
  • Wednesday’s game will be the second consecutive road game for VU and their second of three in the non-conference portion of their schedule (Marquette, 12/29).
  • The Commodores have played a consensus Top-10 non-conference schedule so far this season, and still have Big East member Marquette (Dec. 29) on the docket. Both will be on the road. Also awaiting VU is Southern Conference contender Davidson (Dec. 7), Missouri Valley favorite Indiana State (Dec. 17), and Sun Belt Conference contender Middle Tennessee State (Jan. 28).
  • VU is only shooting 64.7% from the free-throw line this season. VU’s last season under 70% from the charity stripe was 2005-06 (.697). Vanderbilt has had only six seasons under 70% since 1962-63.
  • Senior center Festus Ezeli’s six-game suspension for accepting impermissable benefits expired on November 28 against Xavier, but he is still sidelined with a sprained right knee. Ezeli is still expected to miss another week with the injury.
  • For the season, Vanderbilt is allowing opponents to shoot 45.1% from the floor, which is currently the worst defensive percentage in the SEC. Offensively, the Commodores are shooting 45.2% from the floor and 34.9% from three.
  • The Dores have amassed three non-conference losses – VU has not lost four non-conference games in a season since the 2006-07 campaign (four losses).

John Jenkins scored 27 points, but Louisville’s Peyton Siva made a running layup with 1.6 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Cardinals a 62-60 win at the KFC Yum! Center. Lance Goulbourne and Jeffery Taylor each scored 11 points for Vanderbilt.

  • Vanderbilt dropped its second consecutive overtime game and its fifth straight since the beginning of the 2010-11 season.
  • VU lost in overtime to two ranked teams, #12 Xavier (82-70) and #6 Louisville (62-60) last week.
  • The Commodores were outrebounded, 37-31. Vanderbilt is now 0-3 in games this season when they are outrebounded by their opponent.
  • VU made 10 threes, compared to five for Louisville. Vanderbilt has made more threes than their opponent in all but one game this year (Cleveland State).
