NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Molly Finlay powered Vanderbilt with career highs in points, goals and assists to lift the Dores over Kennesaw State, 16-15, on Saturday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.
Finlay led the Commodores with eight points off five goals and three assists as Vanderbilt (3-1) held off a late rally from Kennesaw State.
Six other Commodores scored goals Saturday. Brooke Baker, Cate Bradley, Molly Krestinski, Kemper Robinson and Anna Taraboletti each added a pair of goals while Ella Smith also scored.
Paige Gunning registered seven saves on the day.
The Commodores opened the contest with five goals in the first quarter and held a 7-6 lead at the half. Vandy stretched its lead to 13-8 early in the fourth quarter before the Owls mounted a comeback.
Kennesaw State (4-3) scored four straight goals in the final three minutes to cut Vandy’s lead to 16-15 as time expired. Caroline Farley and Shannon Harrington added four goals each for the Owls while Hannah Davis registered a hat trick. Goalie Julia Weiss (2-2) made 12 saves in the game.
Vanderbilt will visit Johns Hopkins on Wednesday with the first draw scheduled for noon CT. The game can be viewed on Centennial Conference Digital Network.
