NASHVILLE, Tenn. — With the completion of the ITA Kickoff Weekend draft on Wednesday, Vanderbilt men’s tennis will head to the “City of Stars” in January 2023 after selecting to participate in the Los Angeles Regional, hosted by Southern California.
Scheduled for Jan. 28-29, the Commodores will go up against top seed and host USC in the opening match before facing the winner of Memphis vs. UCLA. The regional winner will earn a bid to the 2023 ITA Indoor National Championships, hosted by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in Champaign, Illinois.
Vandy finished No. 55 in the final ITA team rankings for the 2021-22 season, while USC came in No. 13-nationally to earn hosting privileges in 2023. Memphis closed the season at No. 42 while UCLA checked in at No. 47.

The Dores will return with a formidable group that was ranked sixth in the final Ohio Valley Regional rankings as a team, and returns nationally-ranked singles player and rising senior, Joubert Klopper (No. 95), and a pair of nationally-ranked doubles teams – No. 84 Macsen Sisam and Siim Troost and No. 88 Michael Ross and Troost. Sisam will be entering his fifth-year, while Troost will be a rising senior and Ross entering his sophomore campaign.
Vandy makes its return to ITA Kickoff Weekend, last appearing in 2020 at the Austin Regional. This will be the Dores’ 13th appearance at the event since 2009, with 2010 being their last time in Los Angeles.
