NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team is scheduled to play No. 10 Texas A&M at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon in College Station. The Commodores will then travel to Murfreesboro to face Middle Tennessee on Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m.
Last weekend saw the Dores (11-8, 2-5 SEC) split matches against No. 21 Auburn and No. 9 Tennessee. Vanderbilt grabbed the early lead in doubles and picked up three more points in singles to defeat the Tigers 4-3. After losing the doubles point, Vanderbilt fell to the Volunteers 1-6 on Sunday.
The Dores are ranked No. 44 in the latest ITA rankings, and freshman Danil Panarin holds the No. 85 spot in singles, alongside the duo of Joubert Klopper and Michael Ross, ranked 54th in doubles.
Texas A&M
The Aggies are 16-5 overall and boast a 5-2 record in the SEC. Last weekend, A&M split their matches to No. 5 Kentucky and No. 40 Georgia. Kentucky defeated A&M 4-3, and the Aggies were victorious against the Dogs 5-2. The latest ITA rankings show one Aggie doubles duo ranked nationally, in addition to two student-athletes ranked in singles.
Middle Tennessee
The Blue Raiders are 14-9 overall and have not begun conference play; their most recent matchups were March 17 against No. 55 SMU, where they lost 1-4, and March 15 against No. 21 Oklahoma where they also lost 1-4.
Up Next: The Commodores continue their road trip next weekend, traveling to Gainesville on Friday to take on No. 33 Florida and Columbia on Sunday to face No. 16 South Carolina.
