ORLANDO, Fla. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team opens the 2009 spring season on Monday at the Rio Pinar Invitational.
A total of 21 teams will compete in the two-day, 54-hole event, which tees of on Monday, Feb. 23, at 7:45 a.m. ET, at the Rio Pinar Country Club. Thirty-six holes will be played Monday on Rio Pinar’s 6,978-yard, par-72 layout, with a final 18 holes scheduled for Tuesday.
Vanderbilt Head Coach Tom Shaw has selected seniors Jon Curran and Tyler Matthews, junior Hudson Johnson, sophomore Ryan Haselden and freshman Trey DelGreco to represent the Commodores this week. Junior Craig Tallent will compete in the event unattached.
The Commodores are scheduled to take on five tournaments prior to the 2009 Southeastern Conference Championship, April 17-19. After this week’s tournament, Vanderbilt will return to the Sunshine State in two weeks for the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla.
