NASHVILLE, Tenn. – RV/20 Vanderbilt soccer returns to the pitch on Thursday evening at LSU for the final road matchup of the regular season. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. and can be seen on SEC Network.
Vanderbilt (8-2-5, 3-2-3) picked up its third straight SEC win in a 2-0 decision at Florida on Friday afternoon. Goals from Ella Eggleston and Mia Gonzalez lifted the Dores for its fourth straight win in Gainesville. Eggleston notched her first goal of the season in the 28th minute of the match while Gonzalez’s score came in the 66th minute to seal the Commodores’ eighth shutout of the year.
LSU (7-7-2, 2-5-1) is coming off a 2-2 draw with Texas A&M on Friday. The Tigers are led by Ida Hermannsdottir with 14 points off seven goals this season. Ava Galligan has 12 points off five goals and two assists. In goal, Audur Scheving has appeared in all 16 matches making 54 saves (fifth in the conference), including three clean sheets.
Vandy leads all-time against the Tigers, 13-8-3, dating back to 1995 with a Commodore 6-0 victory. The last time the two teams met was last season in Music City during the 2022 campaign in which LSU took a 2-1 win. The Dores and Tigers have only met six times in the Darren Ambrose Era, with Vandy leading 4-1-1. Through all six matches under Ambrose, Vandy has only given up three goals to LSU.
