Lacrosse closes two-game homestand on Wednesday

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – Vanderbilt lacrosse closes a two-game homestand Wednesday afternoon hosting Mercer at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex. Opening draw will be at noon and broadcast on ESPN+.

The Commodores are coming off a 13-11 comeback win over Arizona State on Sunday in Music City. Kemper Robinson, who was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll, led all scorers with five goals off five shots. Molly Finlay and Brooke Baker each earned a hat trick in the win. Senior goalie Lexie de Roziere made a season-high seven saves, including two crucial back-to-back saves in the fourth quarter when the game was tied 9-9.

Mercer enters the contest 3-2 on the season, coming off a 24-20 win over Coastal Carolina on Saturday. Kayla Soltys led the Bears with five goals, eight draw controls and one assist. Gabby DiVirgilio posted four goals and dished six assists in the win. Mercer’s 24 goals on Saturday were the second-most goals scored in a game this season by the Bears and tied for the third-most all-time.

Mercer’s Maddie Koury has the fourth-highest shooting percentage in the country with .706 while the Bears also have the fourth-highest shooting percentage in the country at .525. For the Dores, Baker leads the offensive with 15 goals on the year, followed by Robinson at 15. Baker has the fourth-best free position average in the country at 1.50 per game.

Wednesday will be the second meeting, all-time between the Dores and the Bears. Vandy topped Mercer in 2021 with a 15-10 decision. Elizabeth Scarrone tallied a hat trick while Cassidy Orban, Maddie Souza, Lila Huddles and Mikela McCauley each added two goals.
