NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The eighth-ranked Commodores ended the three round stroke play portion of the DICK’s Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup with a three-under par, 849 (290-272-286), and in second place, one stroke back of Georgia Tech, who finished at four-under par.

Hunter Stewart is at two-under par, 211, and in a tie for seventh, and freshman Theo Humphrey is in a tie for ninth with a total of one-under par, 212.
“We talked last night about having all five guys in the round all day and that’s what we had,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “I’m really proud that we had the low round of the day. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough, but we have another great opportunity tomorrow to compete against a really good team.”
The Commodores were steady all day, with Stewart shooting a 68 to lead the Vanderbilt effort on Saturday. Humphrey and senior Jordan Janico carded a 72, while senior Ben Fogler added a 73 for Vanderbilt to close out the counting scores. Jacobs shot a 75 Saturday.
“I was extremely proud of Jordan and Ben and how they hung in there all day,” said Limbaugh. “Hunter was really solid for us again and Theo continues to get better each time out. It was a lot of fun out there today. Both teams were hitting a lot of quality shots. They ended up making the shot that ultimately won them the golf tournament on the 18th hole.”
Vanderbilt will take on Georgia Tech on Sunday in an 18-hole match at the Golf Club of Tennessee. The other 10 teams will also be paired off in order of finish in an SEC vs. ACC format.
