Commodores drop home contest to Minutewomen

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt fell 18-7 to UMass on Friday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.

The Commodores took an early 3-1 lead before UMass rattled off four straight goals to go in front 5-3 in the first half.

After Vanderbilt cut the deficit to one with two minutes left before halftime, UMass scored a late goal to take a 6-4 lead into the break.

The Commodores scored quickly in the second half, but UMass took control with a dominant third quarter, outscoring Vanderbilt 7-1 in the period.

The Minutewomen maintained their momentum into the final 15 minutes and took the contest 18-7.

Gabby Fornia finished with four points on two goals and two assists and Bri Gross added a pair of goals.

The Commodores are back at home at 1 p.m. next Wednesday at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex with action streaming live on YouTube.
