Dores Fall to Ranked Denver

Vandy had five scorers, Runske earned career-high in draws

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Caroline Keil led all scorers with seven goals as No. 17/22 Denver defeated Vanderbilt 17-9 on Sunday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.

Denver (4-0) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but goals from Nancy Halleron and Bailey Lower pulled Vanderbilt (1-3) within one. The Commodores later scored three straight to close the second quarter but trailed 7-5 at halftime.

Shea Panzik, Anna Taraboletti and Halleron each scored twice to lead the Dores, while Panzik added a career-best three assists. Sophomore Kiera Runske posted a game-high and career-best eight draw controls, seven of which came in the second half.

Avery Morton, Gabby Putman and Lower also added goals for the Black and Gold. Alex Gladding caused three turnovers, marking her third game this season with at least three.

Denver had five different scorers, powered by Keil, while Eva Thomsen-Marr and Olivia Ripple combined for eight goals.

Vanderbilt continues its nonconference slate Friday, hosting Cincinnati at noon. The contest will air on ESPN+.
