WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Vanderbilt lacrosse team suffered a 10-6 loss to Georgetown on Saturday at Multi-Sport Field.

Freshman Kayla Peterson tied a career high with three goals, sophomore Caroline Peters added two assists and senior Maddie Kratz made seven saves. But the Commodores (3-8, 0-2 BIG EAST) never led and dropped their eighth straight. They pulled within two on four occasions in the second half but couldn’t get any closer.

“Our team is working hard on the field, but it’s not enough,” coach Cathy Swezey said. “It’s tough to win lacrosse games when you score as little as we have in the last two games. Our defense has stepped up and has given up fewer goals so we are happy about that. We will regroup and work hard this week to be ready for Temple on Saturday.”

Jill Doherty, Alexa Kunowsky and Amanda Lockwood each scored. Lockwood and Mallory Schonk also had assists. Emma Dagres caused three turnovers and collected three ground balls.

Vanderbilt returns to Nashville to host Temple on Saturday.
