Dores Fall to Dawgs

Vanderbilt suffers first loss of 2024

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Summer Denigan scored the lone goal of the afternoon to lift Georgia over Vanderbilt 1-0 on Sunday at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.

Vanderbilt (5-1-3, 0-1-1) had nine opportunities to score but Bulldogs’ keeper Jordan Brown jumped in front of every attempt to register nine saves throughout the afternoon. The Commodores registered 12 corner kicks, the most given up by Georgia this season and tied for the most eared by the Dores this year. Keep Kate Devine made her first start of the season and tallied four saves.

Georgia (5-3-2, 1-1-0) tallied their first conference win of the season. Denigan’s goal came in the 18th minute of the match when Cate Hardin took her defender down the sideline and found Denigan top of the keeper box to tap it in by the right post.

The Commodores return to the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex on Thursday hosting No. 3/5 Arkansas. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and will be shown on SEC Network+.
